Who we are
Ausino.blog is an independent review site built for players in Australia, and you can reach out to us at any point at hello@ausino.blog. We run no casino, take no bets and never hold anybody's funds. Our work is publishing reviews and guides, and we cover our costs through affiliate partnerships whenever a reader follows one of our links.
What data we collect and why
You do not need to sign up for an account here, and merely reading the site hands us nothing like your name, payment details or any other detail that identifies you. What we do gather comes down to two simple categories: anonymous analytics on how the site gets used, and whatever you choose to send us by email.
Analytics: Matomo
Our analytics run on Matomo, which lets us track which pages get opened and how the site is doing overall. It tells us which guides readers enjoy, where people commonly hit snags, and what we ought to fix. Put plainly, Matomo logs things such as:
- Page views: the pages you look at and the order in which you visit them.
- Approximate location: usually your country or region, worked out from your IP address.
- Device and browser: the kind of device you have, its screen size, your operating system and the browser you are using.
- Referring site: the search engine or website that pointed you to us.
Every bit of this is there solely to improve the site. We do not sell it, nor do we use it to assemble an advertising profile of you or to work out your identity. Wherever it is possible, we configure Matomo to hold on to less identifying data, which includes trimming down full IP addresses.
Cookies
A cookie is simply a little text file that a website is able to save in your browser. We might use one to keep the site running smoothly and to power the analytics covered above (for instance, to tell whether you have been here before). You are free to block or clear cookies through your browser settings at any time, though keep in mind this can stop parts of the site from behaving properly.
Affiliate links and redirects
Ausino.blog stays afloat thanks to affiliate partnerships. Clicking a "Play Now" button, or any other link that leads to a casino, will normally route you through a tracking redirect that lets the operator know the referral came from us, and that is what earns us a commission without costing you anything extra. From the moment you leave Ausino.blog for a casino or some other third-party site, it is their terms and privacy policy that govern things, not ours. Going over a site's privacy policy before you register is always wise.
Email contact
When you write to hello@ausino.blog, we will see everything you include in the message, which is usually your email address along with what your enquiry is about. We use that only to write back to you and to act on any feedback or corrections. We do not use it for marketing, and we never pass it to anyone else for that kind of purpose.
Data retention
We hold analytics data only while it truly helps us pick up on trends and improve the site, and after that point it is either erased or anonymised further. We keep emails for as long as it takes to sort out your enquiry, plus a sensible period afterwards for our records. Apart from that, we hold no personal information for any longer than we genuinely need to.
Third-party services
For the site to function it leans on a handful of third-party resources, web fonts being one of them. As with the analytics, these services may gather basic technical details (such as your browser and IP address) purely as part of delivering their content to you. We genuinely try to pick providers with a reputation for treating data responsibly, but naturally we have no control over how they operate.
Changes to this policy
This policy is not set in stone. Every so often we may revise it as the site evolves or as we change the tools that power it. Checking back here occasionally is a good idea.
